Preparations are taking place nationwide at outdoor areas ahead of the long weekend.

Dublin City Council has conceded to installing more bins and toilets across the city, while beauty spots across the country will get more facilities.

Areas in Dublin, Cork and Galway have been cordoned off ahead of the bank holiday weekend over concerns about large gatherings.

Yesterday Dublin City Council said 150 portaloos, 54 dumpsters and 80 barrel bins will be installed around the city centre, with a specific focus on high footfall areas.

On the southside, the toilets will be on Sycamore St, Temple Bar Square, Chatham Row, Sth King Street, Coppinger Row, Dame Court, Dame Lane and Merrion Square.

On the northside, the portaloos can be found at Wolfetone Sq, O’Connell Street, Smithfield, along the Royal Canal and in Mountjoy Square and Diamond Park.

The toilets will be open from 10am to 11pm.
