The DART network is about to get a lot busier as Woodbrook Station, nestled between Shankill and Bray, officially opens on Sunday 10 August.

This marks the addition of the 147th station to the Irish Rail network—reviving the original Woodbrook Halt from 1910, but with sleek modern facilities.

Built to serve the bustling Woodbrook–Shanganagh development, which includes around 2,300 new homes, the station is expected to handle up to 191 weekday services, offering swift 40-minute journeys into the city centre. The new platforms will boast bicycle parking, passenger shelters, seating and CCTV—fully funded by the Department of Transport and the National Transport Authority.

Locals have welcomed the move, saying it’s a vital step in cutting car use, easing commutes and supporting Ireland’s climate goals. This station is set to become a key commuting hub for both existing residents and those moving into the expanding neighbourhood.

Tune in to World Wide Reb, weekday mornings at 8.45am on 98FM's Big Breakfast for all the latest entertainment news.
