A first-of-its-kind water sports centre on Dublin's River Liffey will be officially launched next month.
Paddle boarding, kayaking and canoeing will be on offer when the €20 million docklands facility fully opens to the public next March. It's expected activities will be available from sunrise to sunset.
A new boardwalk, floating pontoons and changing rooms have been built, while there's space for a café as part of the Dublin city council project. Work is now underway to buy equipment and test out the facilities.
The newly revamped site replaces old city council offices and a car park and the work has also included a new pontoon to access the Jeanie Johnston famine ship and a new area on the water for Dublin Fire Brigade.
Clodagh Kilmurray is CEO of Swan Leisure, a not-for-profit organisation that will run the centre;
"If you travel around Europe a lot of cities will use their River throughout the year. We want to make the Liffey accessible for everybody to use."
