Production has officially commenced on Star Wars: Starfighter, a standalone story set within the Star Wars universe, and the cast has just been expanded with the addition of Oscar nominee Amy Adams and former Doctor Who star Matt Smith.
The film now boasts an ensemble that includes Ryan Gosling, Mia Goth, Flynn Gray, Aaron Pierre, Simon Bird, Jamael Westman, and Daniel Ings.
Directed by Shawn Levy (Deadpool & Wolverine), and scripted by Jonathan Tropper, Starfighter is set approximately five years after Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, though it stands apart from the Skywalker Saga entirely. The new narrative is poised to inhabit a previously untapped era of the galaxy.

Adams may play a maternal figure to Flynn Gray's character—possibly his mother—while Matt Smith is expected to portray a villain.
