Get your detective hats ready—Daniel Craig is returning as Benoit Blanc in Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, and it’s officially the Opening Night Gala for the 69th BFI London Film Festival!

The event runs from 8–19 October, with this highly anticipated sequel debuting at the Royal Festival Hall on 8 October, followed by screenings across partner cinemas in the UK.

Directed and penned by Rian Johnson, the film sees Benoit Blanc tackling what many are calling his most dangerous case yet. Joining Craig is an all-star cast, including Josh O’Connor, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny, Daryl McCormack, and Thomas Haden Church. Rumours suggest O’Connor and Brolin play priests, while the rest of the crew bring their usual flair to this Christie-style whodunnit.

The title itself nods to U2’s classic track “Wake Up Dead Man,” following the franchise tradition of pop‑culture references (remember Glass Onion?). After being delayed by the 2023 writers’ strike, filming wrapped in the UK during summer 2024, and now the world premiere is tipped for TIFF in September, before Netflix releases it globally on 12 December 2025.

If burglary, bikers, or ballroom dancers were part of your summer plans—slot blank for Benoit Blanc instead! Expect more murder, secrets, and surprises in this stylish third outing, and book your October diary now. The game’s afoot, as London gets ready to welcome this brilliant brain‑twister.
