Colin Farrell is back in the spotlight with a fresh new role in Ballad of a Small Player, a tense psychological thriller set in the dazzling casinos of Macau.

Netflix has just dropped first-look images, and they’re dripping with late-night intrigue and neon-lit mystery.

Directed by Academy Award winner Edward Berger (All Quiet on the Western Front, Conclave) and penned by Rowan Joffé (28 Weeks Later, The American), the film adapts Lawrence Osborne’s acclaimed 2014 novel. Colin nearly disappears into his role as Lord Doyle, a high-stakes gambler on the run, dodging debts and danger.

He’s joined by a stellar supporting cast including Tilda Swinton, Fala Chen, Deanie Ip, and Alex Jennings, and it’s all shot through with cinematic polish thanks to Oscar-winning cinematographer James Friend. The story promises a heady mix of glamour, psychological tension, and ghostly shades of con artistry.

In terms of release dates, expect this one to roll out in theatres first—15 October in the US, then 17 October in the UK and Ireland—before landing on Netflix globally from 29 October.

Get ready for a gripping ride this autumn – Colin Farrell, Macau’s casino underworld and a pulse-pounding game off the gambling table.
