A woman was injured after a rock came through the window of a bus in Dublin over the weekend.

It happened at around 9 o'clock on Saturday night in Ballinteer.

The female passenger in her 20's suffered minor injuries during the attack.

Independent councillor for the area, Sean McLoughlin says the number 75 GoAhead service was vandalised along Ballinteer Avenue, between The Coach House Pub and Supervalu Ballinteer.

In a post on facebook, he called for or an immediate stop to bus attacks.

"Public transport, such as our public bus service, is an essential service to frontline staff, such as hospital and health care staff, as well as getting citizens to the shops, post office, pharmacy etc."

Councillor McLoughlin says he is liaising with Gardaí in order for them to patrol the area where the attack took place.

"This mindless act of vandalism by a small few, will have a significant impact on our frontline staff through these already challenging times, and must stop immediately."

Gardaí have launched an investigation. However no arrests have been made.
