Hollywood & Dublin talent unite! Jennifer Aniston, best known for Friends and The Morning Show, is set to star as the controlling mother in the upcoming Apple TV+ dramedy I’m Glad My Mom Died, based on Jennette McCurdy’s candid and emotional memoir.
Apple TV+ describes the ten-episode series as a blend of heartbreak and humour, exploring the intense and co-dependent relationship between a teenage actress and her narcissistic mother. McCurdy (formerly the face of iCarly) is writing, showrunning, and executive producing alongside Ari Katcher, ensuring the portrayal remains true to her experiences.
Behind the scenes, an impressive line-up of exec producers brings serious pedigree: Sharon Horgan (via Merman), Jerrod Carmichael, Margot Robbie’s LuckyChap, Erica Kay, and Stacy Greenberg. McCurdy’s memoir — which topped the New York Times bestseller chart for over 80 weeks — struck a chord thanks to its raw humour, trauma, and insight into child stardom.
This marks Aniston’s latest Apple TV+ collaboration after The Morning Show, and Horgan’s follow-up to the success of Bad Sisters. With such heavyweight stars both on and off-screen, I’m Glad My Mom Died is shaping up to be an unmissable and emotionally bold hit. No release date yet, but the trailer’s already on everyone’s watchlist.
