The Dublin United Transport Company began operating buses on this day in 1925.
Back then, there were 500 thousand journeys by bus in a year. Currently, there are nearly as many every day.
The company has since been connecting Dubliners through it's network and continues to grow with Bus Connects and plans to have contactless payments.
A parade of the various models and makes of bus took place earlier today from Parnell Square to the Transport museum in Howth.
Dublin Bus CEO, Billy Hann is delighted the network is continuing to grow:
"I think it's an important milestone to celebrate. It started with 13 bus routes. They were going to run the numbers from 39 to 51. 39 for Blanchardstown and 51 for Clondalkin. 43 was Killester. That was the first one they started on the 6th of July, 1925."
