GAP is to close all its stores in Ireland and the UK by end of year.
The shops will shut in a phased manner from the end of August through to the end of September.
The American fashion retailer says it will go online in the markets affected.
GAP has stores in Dublin's Dundrum Town Centre, Blanchardstown Shopping Centre, Arnotts, as well as one in Limerick.
Meanwhile the company is looking for a new partner to help run its online business.
It hasn't said how many employees are affected by the move.
