Dublin has been named the fourth most expensive capital city in the world for tourists to visit.

A new study by Cuba Holidays factored in the cost of a hotel stay, the price of a pint, and fees for the top tourist attractions.

The research also looked at the price of a cup of coffee, and an average meal for two at a mid-range restaurant.

Graeme McQueen from Dublin Chamber says businesses have huge costs that they sometimes need to pass on.

"We've seen the VAT rise from 9% to 13%", which he warned will probably see prices rise.

He also pointed to rising commercial rates and high insurance costs, but added he does not "think Dublin is too expensive at the moment".

However, he admitted that "we have got to be careful to make sure that it remains competitive" to visitors.
