Hollywood star Steve Carell has quietly been enjoying a holiday in Ireland’s west, with recent sightings on the Aran Islands capturing local imaginations.
On Monday, the Anchorman and The Office actor was seen aboard a Doolin Ferry bound for Inis Meáin, one of the lesser-visited Aran Islands off the Galway coast.
Once ashore, his day took a delightful Irish turn when he popped into the island’s only pub, Teach Ósta Inis Meáin, and tried his hand behind the bar, pulling pints of Guinness to the delight of staff and customers alike.

The Aran Islands—comprised of Inishmore, Inishmaan (Inis Meáin), and Inisheer—are celebrated for their rugged beauty, Gaeltacht culture, and ancient stone forts. Although remote, these islands draw day-trippers eager for an authentic taste of the western Irish landscape.
