A very special benefit performance of Conor McPherson’s acclaimed play The Weir, starring Brendan Gleeson, will take place on Wednesday, 3 September at 2:30 pm at Dublin’s 3Olympia Theatre.

The one-off show has been organised in tribute to the late actor and broadcaster Seán Rocks and in support of St. Francis Hospice, where Gleeson’s parents received care. All proceeds from the event will be shared between the hospice and Rocks' family.

This benefit comes during the play’s current sold-out run at the 3Olympia, which has been drawing praise for its haunting and intimate revival. The production, directed by McPherson, features a stellar cast—Brendan Gleeson, Owen McDonnell, Seán McGinley, Kate Phillips, and Tom Vaughan-Lawlor—bringing the atmospheric ghost-story set in a rural pub vividly to life. Following the Dublin performances, the play is scheduled to transfer to London’s West End later this autumn.

Tickets priced at €100 / €80 / €70 go on sale Tuesday, 26 August at 10 am via Ticketmaster—but attendees are encouraged to act fast, as seats for the special show are expected to sell quickly.
