A woman has been left badly shaken after being held at knife-point during a carjacking in Kildare.

The driver, in her forties, stopped to speak with a pedestrian who flagged her down before 7am.

The man stopped her at a roundabout on Bothar Philip near Kill.

Gardai are searching for the thief, who is believed to have driven her Blue Hyundai Tucson in the direction of the N7.

Gardaí say the pedestrian was wearing a high-vis jacket when he approached the car and may have been involved in a single car collision on the Straffan road a short time earlier.

The stolen Blue Hyundai Tucson has yet to be recovered and no arrests have been made.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Naas Garda Station 045-884300 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
