The executive producer of Top Gear has denied he's quit, after an email he wrote to all staff on the show, leaked to the press. In the letter, Andy Wilman thanked them for all their 'hard work' and said over the years they've had 'many laughs and many tiffs'.

But Andy has now denied it was a resignation letter and insisted it was not 'meant for public consumption.'

Expressing his annoyance, he said: 'It was a private note of thanks to 113 people who have worked on the show over the years, but clearly one of those 113 is a bit of a tit, because they shared it with a website.'

Meanhile, a spokeswoman for the BBC said: 'It was not a farewell but a thank you to people who have been important to the show over the last 12 years. It was bringing down the curtain on the Clarkson era, not announcing his own departure.'

It's believed Andy and sacked host Jeremy Clarkson attended the same school and have been friends ever since.
