You may have noticed hundreds of bearded men in Temple Bar this afternoon, that's because there's a casting call for the new season of Vikings taking place.
The Canadian/Irish production needs to recruit 8,000 extras for season 4 and has called on archers, fishermen, musicians, tree surgeons and carpenters to apply. Film is due to get under way here in Ireland this month.
Vikings is inspired by the sagas of Viking Ragnar Lothbrok, one of the best-known mythological Norse heroes and notorious as the scourge of England and France. It portrays Ragnar as a former farmer who rises to fame by successful raids into England, and eventually becomes King of Denmark, with the support of his family and fellow warriors.
