Liam Payne has admitted Zayn Malik left One Direction to save his relationship. During an interview on UK radio this morning, he said Zayn wanted to spend time with 'his family and his missus' and that his decision was 'cool' with them.
He said: 'Sometimes you have to move on because you're not enjoying what you're doing as much as you used to.
'He wanted to spend time with his family and his missus. That's cool with us.'
Zayn quit the group in March, saying he wanted to be a 'normal 22 year old'. He's since had a Twitter spat with Louis Tomlinson, although One Direction insist there is no bad blood between them.
They won the Top Group award at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday and dedicated the award to their former band mate.
