Olympic gold medalist Bruce Jenner says for "all intents and purposes" - he is a woman.
The reality TV star - is now probably the most high-profile American to come out as transgender.
The 65-year-old made the declaration in an interview with ABC's Diane Sawyer, having kept silent on his apparent transition for many months.
The Kardashian/Jenner girls took to Twitter straight after the broadcast to say how they think he is a hero.
Couldn't be a more proud daughter. With courage and bravery, let's change the world. I am honored to stand by Bruce's side and support him.
