After a four-year break, Jake Wood is stepping back into Albert Square as notorious patriarch Max Branning later this year.

Making his first appearance in a brief arc this autumn, he’ll fully rejoin the cast before year’s end.

Wood shared his excitement, saying he’s “over the moon to be coming home to Walford” and teasing that Max’s return will stir up earlier clashes “with many characters.” He’s promised plenty of chaos ahead, adding that while he doesn’t miss the gruelling filming schedule, he does relish the thrill of major dramatic storylines.

With scores to settle, Max’s re-entry will thrust the Brannings back into the heart of the action.

Adding more Branning drama, Max’s son Oscar will also return—now a teenager—played by new actor Pierre Moullier. Oscar’s arrival this summer promises fresh family fireworks and old rivalries reigniting.
