He was one of the bookie's favourites but now it looks like he's out of the running.

Joe Lycett has been a name on lots of people's lists ever since the news came out that Matt Lucas was leaving. But he's already clearing up the rumours.

The comedian he ruled himself out as a potential presenter on The Great British Bake Off when he was asked about it on a podcast recently.

"No thank you. I'm taking myself out of the race."

It seems, similar to Matt Lucas's reason for leaving, that he's not up for the big calendar commitment that the hosting role requires.

On the same podcast, he was asked about the "Beckham stuff".

In case you missed it, the "Beckham stuff" referred to a viral video Joe Lycett created in which he directly appealed to the famous footballer to end his association with World Cup in Qatar over their treatment of LGBTQ+ people, or he would shred £10,000 of his own money.

On the day the World Cup began, after silence from David Beckham's camp, Joe posted a video in which he appeared to shred the cash, before revealing that he had in fact donated £10,000 to a number of LGBTQ+ charities.

Speaking on the matter Joe said: "I've not heard directly from Beckham. We have had some contact with his people...but basically, legally at the minute, I'm not sure I'm allowed to say."

We'll have to keep our eyes and ears open for that one!
