Irish actor Domhnall Gleeson has been cast in The Paper, an upcoming spinoff of the beloved mockumentary series The Office.
Gleeson revealed that encouragement from original cast members John Krasinski and Steve Carell played a pivotal role in his decision to join the project.
"He was wonderful. I mean, his big advice that he gave me was to do it," Gleeson said of Krasinski. "And the same with Steve Carell, another just wonderful actor who I'd worked with before."
The Paper, created by The Office showrunner Greg Daniels and Nathan For You co-creator Michael Koman, is set to premiere on Peacock in September 2025. The series follows the staff of The Truth Teller, a struggling newspaper in Toledo, Ohio, as they navigate the challenges of modern journalism.

Gleeson will portray Ned, the optimistic publisher determined to restore the paper's former glory. The cast also includes Sabrina Impacciatore, Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Ramona Young, and Tim Key. Oscar Nuñez will reprise his role as Oscar Martinez from the original series.
Reflecting on the advice he received, Gleeson added, "I'm so happy I did it because I think we have something really lovely. So I'm thrilled with it."
