The Red Line Luas service from Connolly to the Point will now be out of action until November.
A bridge at George's Dock had to be demolished after a recent fire.
It was found to be structurally comprised following the recent blaze which damaged it.
A new bridge is to be built to replace it which will take until near the end of the year.
To allow for the demolition of the bridge, changes to the overhead power cables will be needed.
This will require a curtailment of Luas services on Tuesday and Wednesday from 7pm on both days.
A replacement bus service will operate from today, covering the affected section of the line.
It will operate every 10 minutes and run during Luas operating hours.
Valid Luas tickets and Leap Cards will be needed to travel.
