Gardai are investigating whether a woman found stabbed to death in Ballymun knew her attacker.

52-year-old Lisa Thompson was discovered with multiple stab wounds at her home at Sandyhill Gardens yesterday afternoon.

A post-mortem on the mother-of-two's body is due to take place today.

No one has been arrested at this stage, and detectives say they are are keeping an open mind as they search for her killer.

Gardai believe Ms Thompson was killed sometime between last Saturday and yesterday afternoon and that she could have been dead for some time before being discovered.

Superintendent Darren McCarthy from Ballymun Garda Station said:

"I'm appealing for any person with any information on Lisa's movement from Saturday the 7th of May 2022 up to Tuesday 10th May 2022.

He added, "I'm also appealing with any person's with video footage from the Sandyhill area of Ballymun, the surrounding roads of Maywood Crescent, Balbutcher Lane, for the same period to come forward."
