Another laneway in Dublin city centre is set to be closed off over anti social behaviour.

A report from Dublin city council has recommended erecting gates at Swan Alley in the Liberties after a request from local property owners.

There have been long running issues, including drug use, along the narrow lane off Thomas Street for a number of years.

Councillors in the south central area are due to discuss the matter at a meeting this afternoon where they will be asked to recommend to the full council that the public right of way to the lane is extinguished.

46 submissions were made as part of a public consultation, with 44 in favour of closing off the alley.

It comes after another laneway in the city, Harbour Court, was shut to the public over anti social behaviour. The route runs between Marlborough Street and Lower Abbey Street.
