A man is in a critical condition in hospital after an assault on O'Connell Street yesterday evening.
Gardai say they were called to the scene at around 6pm, where a man in his 30s received serious injuries.
He's being treated at Beaumont Hospital where his condition is described as critical but stable.
A man in his 30s was arrested a short time later and is currently detained at Store Street Garda Station where he can be held for up to 24 hours.
Gardai say investigations are continuing.
