Gardaí Investigating Fatal Assault In Co Kildare

A man in his 20s has died following an alleged assault in Co Kildare in the early hours of this morning.

Gardaí in Roberstown responded to a call of a public order incident at Allenwood South around 12.45am.

A silver Audi car was reported to have been involved in a road collision with a Red Renault Traffic van.

On arrival at the scene, no complaint was forthcoming to Gardaí and the two vehicles were detained pending forensic examinations.

Later at 3.49am, Gardaí received a further call regarding a public order incident at Allenwood South and discovered an unconscious man lying on the public road being administered CPR.

The man, who was in his late 20s, was taken by ambulance to Naas General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Gardaí are making several appeals for information following the incident.

They are seeking information on the movement of the Silver Audi A4, registration 09CN6292, on Saturday evening until 12.45am this morning, as well as in relation to the road collision.

They are also appealing for information regarding any incidents which occurred in the Allenwood South area between 12am and 4.30am, including the alleged fatal assault.
