It happened at around 11pm last night.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to a crash in Dublin last night, in which a man in his 40s was killed.

He was seriously injured after being struck by a car on the Peamount Road in Newcastle at about 11pm.

He was taken to Tallaght University Hospital but died a short time later.

Clondalkin Garda Station are appealing to anyone with information on the crash or video footage of the scene to come forward.

Another man lost his life on Friday night in a separate incident on the roads.

Ian McDonnell tried to intervene when his car was stolen last Sunday.

He was found on the Robinhood Road in Clondalkin with critical injuries, and passed away on Friday night.

Officers are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area, or who has video footage from that area between 5pm and 7.30pm on Sunday.
