The number of jobs in Dublin has reached its highest level in twenty years.

33,000 people have joined the city's workforce since July 2017, according to the latest Dublin Economic Monitor.

696,200 people are currently employed in Dublin.

The Dublin Economic Monitor has also found while rents are continuing to rise sharply, house prices are slowly starting to fall.

It also found close to 2000 new homes were built July and September in 2018.

The report, which analyses key economic indicators for the city, shows visitors to the city are spending more.

Tourist spending is up 14.2%, coming mostly from U.S., German and Chinese visitors.

Lord Mayor of Dublin, Nial Ring said The Dublin Economic Monitor "tracks the performance of the Dublin region and benchmarks us against our international peer cities".

He explained that it "ensures that we have the information, knowledge and tools in place to articulate our positive economic story".

Ciara Morley, Senior Consultant, said that "positive trends" have been recorded across almost all key performance indicators.

"Especially those relating to the labour market", she said.

She added that "The overall outlook is still a positive one, bolstered by the labour market and consumer expenditure.
