Dublin City Council says it is struggling to process the level of illegal dumping happening in parts of North Dublin.

Pictures of areas in Finglas and Ballymun shared by the council on it's facebook page show bags of rubbish, mattresses and furniture scattered around housing estates.

In the post, the local authority says it is battling to keep up with demand;

"It’s a difficult time for us all and this is taking up valuable time and resources that could be put to much better use during the #covid-19 crisis."

Civic Amenity sites and Bring Centres are closed until further notice due to Covid-19, however limited collections are in place.

DCC says it will continue to respond as best it can. It says it will prosecute anyone responsible for illegal dumping.
