A new late-night safe space initiative launches in Dublin city centre tonight.
The mobile help unit, nicknamed the "Nee Naw", will be stationed on Camden Street every Friday and Saturday. The Dublin city council initiative will include a medic, welfare officer and security from 10pm to 3am.
It follows on from a similar pilot at College Green over Christmas, which saw around 150 people engaging with the service each night.
Organisers say it will offer non-judgmental, approachable support for anyone in need for the next six to eights weeks.
It's been welcomed by businesses in the area. Paul Clinton, who owns Flannery's Bar on Camden Street, says it will help cut down on ambulance call-outs;
"It's a problem in the city. Dublin city has suffered from people not feeling safe late at night. This initiative would be fantastic, it just shows that the city council, somebody cares."
