A jury in the trial of a man accused of murdering and dismembering his girlfriend’s mother has been hearing evidence about the day she was reported missing.

Kieran Greene denies murdering 61-year-old grandmother Patricia O’Connor at their home at Mountainview Park, Rathfarnham.

On June 12th 2017, eleven days after Patricia O’Connor was reported missing by her husband Gus.

Garda Andrew Quinn told the jury Kieran Greene was in the station claiming to have killed and dismembered her when he went to take a statement from his girlfriend, Patricia’s daughter Louise, who’s also on trial accused of impeding the apprehension or prosecution of Mr. Greene

In her statement, she said her mother was really angry and agitated on the day she went missing, and that she left with her bag at around 9pm.

She described Kieran as getting more and more stressed as the week went on and said he just lost it one day and started crying and hugging the kids, saying he was sorry, claiming that her mother came at him with a hurley and next thing he knew they were on the floor.

She said she thought it was some sort of sick joke, but that he decided to hand himself in later that night.
