Bank of Ireland and Aer Lingus have teamed up to offer a new credit card.

Customers will get two free return flights within Europe a year, as well as other benefits including travel insurance.

Other benefits include two fast track and priority boarding passes a year and two lounge passes a year.

The travel insurance offered covers a family worldwide for numerous trips a year, and includes winter sports like skiing.

Customers of the new Bank Of Ireland Credit Card will also clock-up air miles each time they use it.

They can collect 1 Avios for every €1 spent with Aer Lingus, and 1 Avios for every €4 spent on all other transactions.

Using the credit card to pay in places like SuperValu and Kildare Village will count as spending with Aer Lingus, meaning customers will get 1 Avios for every €1 spent.

Customers will have to pay the taxes, fees and charges attached to the two free return flights.

That means they will only get the cost of the seat for free.

Bank of Ireland Credit Card Charges

There are also the charges to add-up.

It will cost €7.99 a month to just keep the Aer Credit Card in your wallet without using it.

After that, there is a €30 a year government stamp duty charge to consider, as well as the interest.

There is a standard annual interest rate of 16.12% variable, and an Annual Percentage Rate of 26.6% variable for purchases.

Christine Hamill, Head of Retail Cards at Bank of Ireland believes the Aer Credit Card will "enhance customers travel experience with lounge access, fast passes, travel insurance and free fares".

Susanne Carberry from Aer Lingus, said Aer Credit Card "offers a credit card product together with attractive travel rewards and equally allows cardholders to earn Avios with every transaction.”
