A music industry expert doesn't think we will be enjoying festivals again until we have all been vaccinated for Covid-19.

A ban on mass gatherings was extended last month. It applies to events of 5,000 people or more and will remain in place until at least the end of August.

It's resulted in a number of concerts and festivals being cancelled including Body & Soul, Longitude and Sea Sessions.

Angela Dorgan is CEO of First Music Contact, an information and advice resource for musicians and the independent music sector in Ireland.

She says big name acts are putting off world tours until late next year or even 2020;

"I think the next time we'll be jumping around in a packed tent, sweating will be when we've all had our covid flu shot.

This is the time when we need music and we need stories, books and we need poetry to interrupt all of this for us. So I am absolutely confident that the artists won't let us down, it will just be coming to us differently I think."
