Eddie Murphy and Pete Davidson have teamed up in The Pickup, a new action-comedy premiering on Prime Video on 6 August.

Directed by Tim Story, this high-octane caper stars Murphy as Russell Pierce and Davidson as Travis Stolly, two mismatched armoured‑truck drivers whose routine cash run is ambushed by thieves.

Chaos ensues when Travis realises the heist is led by his one‑night stand, Zoe (Keke Palmer), and Russell’s hot‑headed wife, Natalie (Eva Longoria), is taken hostage. With the script by Matt Mider and Kevin Burrows as their launchpad, Murphy and Davidson riff off each other in improvised comedy showdowns—trying to one‑up each other under Story’s “go nuts” direction.

Despite their on‑screen friction, the pair found plenty in common—stand‑up roots, East Coast backgrounds, and a shared love of improv. As Murphy, now 64, reflects on shifting from “young maverick” roles to seasoned mentor, Davidson calls working alongside his childhood hero “a bucket‑list moment.” Even Keke Palmer couldn’t resist praising the multi‑generational comic energy.

Rounding out the cast is Andrew Dice Clay, Marshawn Lynch, Ismael Cruz Córdova, and surprise cameo Roman Reigns. Get ready for slick heist thrills, blockbuster pratfalls, and the Murphy–Davidson chemistry that proves this duo is one to watch. The Pickup drops on Prime Video this 6 August—don’t miss it!
