Disney can't seem to just Let It Go...
Disney confirmed that 3 of their most successful movie franchises are getting sequels. Frozen, Toy Story and Zootopia are all due to get follow-up movies in a recent announcement made by the company.
The massive announcement came during a call on Disney's quarterly earnings with their CEO Bob Iger saying the decision came from them "leaning into their unrivaled brands".
It's not surprising that their leaning into their most beloved stories. Toy Story 4 earned a staggering $1 billion at the box office and won Best Animated Feature at the Oscars in 2019.
A sequel to Toy Story would make it the 5th movie in the franchise (not including a spin-off Buzz Lightyear movie that got a mixed reaction when it was released last year), it's movie number 3 for Frozen and it's Zootopia's first sequel.
We don't know anymore about these movies besides the fact that they're happening, but one thing's for sure they're going to be guaranteed successes for Disney!
Outside of these movies, Disney has a very busy 2023 ahead of them, including a live-action version of the Little Mermaid coming out in May (starring Halle Bailey in the leading role), a new Pixar movie called Elemental, and a movie adapted from their theme park ride, Haunted Mansion.
