Brit actress Daisy Edgar‑Jones, best known for Normal People and Twisters, has been unveiled as the lead in a fresh big‑screen take on Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility.
She’ll play Elinor Dashwood, the sensible and steadfast sister, in this eagerly awaited adaptation.
Directed by Georgia Oakley—whose debut Blue Jean scooped BAFTA acclaim—and penned by Diana Reid, this version is being produced by Focus Features and Working Title Films. The project follows in the footsteps of the iconic 1995 film starring Emma Thompson, and while comparisons are inevitable, fans are excited to see Daisy bring her own charm and emotion to the role.

Filming is set to begin this summer, with a release expected in 2026 at the earliest. So if you loved rediscovering Austen classics on screen—like Pride and Prejudice in 2005 or Emma in 2020—this one’s firmly worth pencilling in.
With Edgar‑Jones’s rising star and Oakley’s fresh creative vision, this Sense and Sensibility promises a beautifully modern take on Austen’s timeless tale. Expect romance, sisterhood, and social intrigue—wrapped in that trademark mix of wit and heart.
