We can tell this film is going to be mad already 😅
In case you didn't know it, yet another Willy Wonka film is getting made! But this time it's an origin story about the man himself and who he was before he opened his famous chocolate factory.
Following the footsteps of Gene Wilder and Johnny Depp, Timothée Chalamet (known for Dune and Call Me By Your Name) will be taking on the titular role.
Very little is known about the movie so far, only that it's coming out this year, and those few pictures we have of Timothée wearing the famous top hat and purple coat.
But if you happened to be attending CinemaCon in Las Vegas Tuesday evening, you got to see the first glimpse of Wonka, as the first teaser trailer for the movie was played there.
While there are no clips of the teaser trailer anywhere online just yet (we're sure they'll be appearing soon), the news that Hugh Grant will be playing one of the Oompa Loompas surfaced extremely quickly.
According to the publication Variety: “In the extended footage that screened for exhibitors on Tuesday, [Willy Wonka] finally meets one of the Oompa Loompas – played by Hugh Grant, trapped in a tiny glass jar – who he later hires to keep his factory up and running.”

While chatting at the event, Timothée also shared that his take on Willy Wonka will be less cynical than previous versions of the character.
“This is a Willy that’s full of joy and hope and desire to become the greatest chocolatier,” he said.
Alongside Timothée and Hugh, other stars cast in this movie are Olivia Colman playing a “Cockney innkeeper” (we love it already) and Sally Hawkins as Willy Wonka’s mother.
