Man Arrested As Part Of Two Year Investigation Into Property Fraud

A man has been arrested as part of a two year investigation into property fraud.

He's suspected of submitting false deeds to the Property Registration Authority in relation the ownership of two properties, and as a result 260-thousand euro for rent was fraudulently claimed.

The legitimate owners of the properties suffered a significant financial loss.

The investigation by the Garda National Economic Crime Bureau involved inquiries through Interpol in the UK, USA and Virgin Islands.

Gardai have carried out four search operations and seized over 480 exhibits so far.

The man in his 50s is detained at Terenure Garda Station in Dublin where he can he held for up to 24 hours.
