Lizzo is being sued by her former backup dancers for sexual harassment and 'creating a hostile work environment'.
The lawsuit was filed this week and alleges a number of incidents where Lizzo put the 3 dancers (who are named as Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams and Noelle Rodriguez) through a lot of emotional distress.
One of the incidents allegedly took place at a strip club in Amsterdam. In the lawsuit it's described that Lizzo “began inviting cast members to take turns touching the nude performers, catching dildos launched from the performers’ vaginas, and eating bananas protruding from the performers’ vaginas,”
It continued: “Lizzo then turned her attention to Ms. Davis and began pressuring Ms. Davis to touch the breasts of one of the nude women.”
“Plaintiffs were aghast with how little regard Lizzo showed for the bodily autonomy of her employees and those around her, especially in the presence of many people whom she employed,” the lawsuit continues.
And while Lizzo would be well known for her body positivity and promoting self love no matter what you weigh, incidents in the lawsuit claim the contrary.
It alleges that she called attention to Arianna Davis’ weight gain by telling her she was “less committed” to her role and later berating and firing the dancer for recording a meeting because of a health condition.
Lizzo is yet to respond to any of the allegations made in the lawsuit but we can sense it's only going to get messier from here.
Fairplay to her dancers for speaking out as it's must have been a very difficult thing to do all things considered!
