The Health Minister has tested negative for Covid-19.

Stephen Donnelly started to feel sick yesterday afternoon and was tested for the virus.

He confirmed last night his result was negative, and his cabinet colleagues no longer have to restrict their movements.

The Dáil was suspended for the week before the negative test was confirmed.

Yesterday morning the cabinet met to approve the COVID-19 roadmap in Dublin Castle.

While they were in a room big enough to have social distancing, the government Ministers spent almost three hours together in a confined space.

Infectious diseases professor Sam McConkey says ministers no longer need to take precautions;

"Now that he's tested negative, you know he's probably got some other cause for a runny nose or symptoms, and there's no need for the people who are his close contacts to do anything different from normal. They can go back to their normal lives."
