The majority of parents support uniforms according to the survey but a third feel they're not getting value for money and 41 per cent feel there's not enough choice.
While 75% of schools have at least one item that has to be bought in a recommended shop.
The Consumer Watchdog says costs can be driven up by branded uniforms .
It's recommending that more generic items be allowed and says there should be multiple suppliers to encourage competition.
