Justin Bieber could be in serious hot water after returning to Brazil.

The pop star has returned to Brazil four years after allegedly spray painting the Hotel Nacional and leaving the country before authorities could notify him of his charges.

He was charged with a "crime against the city order and cultural heritage" for supposedly writing "Bielibers 4 Life" and "Respect Privacy" on a wall of the €27 million hotel.

A judge has decided to reopen the case after learning of Bieber's return to the country for his Purpose World Tour.

Rio’s Public Prosecution Service gave a statement to the Mail Online, which read:

"With the news that the singer will be returning to Brazil, the Prosecution Service requested that the court issue a writ of summons in his name the request is so that the accused is made aware of the charges."

Rudi Lowenkron, a Rio de Janeiro judge, supposedly ordered a clerk to wait at the airport for Justin to arrive and ask him to sign a document confirming he is in fact aware of the case.

Possible penalties for such a crime if convicted include up to 1 year prison sentence or a fine.

He performed in Rio last night and set to perform twice in São Paulo this weekend.

We will keep you posted of any updates!
