Alan Hughes made this morning's Ireland AM very special, by proposing to his partner live on the show.
A few days ago The Marriage Act 2015 was signed into law, making it official that same sex couples could marry in Ireland. TV3 did a feature on Ireland AM this morning about how things have changed in Ireland over the last 20 years and featured Colm O'Gorman, Karl Broderick and their own Alan on the panel for the discussion.
Alan and Karl, who are already civil partnered, were chatting to Sinead Desmond and Mark Cagney on the show when Alan got down on one knee and proposed.

Mark and Karl have been together for 22 years and he joyfully accepted the proposal.
