Army Called In Over Suspected Pipe Bomb In Ballymun

The army bomb squad carried out a controlled explosion in Ballymun last night.

Gardaí received reports of a suspect device at approximately 9pm in the garden of a house in Poppintree.

A number of houses were evacuated and a cordon was put in place.

The incident eventually came to an end at around 3am after a controlled explosion was carried out.

Gardaí say the device was not viable.
