From midnight on Saturday, returning home from a night out or getting to or from your night shift will become a lot easier as Dublin gets its first 24-hour bus routes.

Here’s everything you need to know:

Which routes will be running 24 hours?

From December 1st, routes 15 and 41 will operate 24 hours a day.

What areas do they serve?

The 15 runs between Clongriffin and Ballycullen, serving Clare Hall, Malahide Road, Coolock, Artane, Fairview, Connolly Station, Eden Quay Dame Street, Sth. George’s Street, Camden Street, RathminesRathgarTerenure, Templeogue and Knocklyon.

The 41 runs from Lower Abbey Street to Swords Manor, serving Drumcondra, Whitehall, Santry, Dublin Airport and Swords Village.

How often will the buses run?

Every 30 minutes from the terminus. You can find the timetables here or you can check the RTPI on street or on the app.

How much to travel, and can I use my Leap Card?

The fares are the exact same as you pay during the day and you can use your Leap card.

How are these routes different to the Nitelink routes?

Nitelink buses run at weekends only. They operate a limited timetable and charge a premium fare. They are also limited to where you can board and only operate from the city with no return journeys available. The 15 and 41 will charge regular fares, operate 7 nights and serve every stop on their routes.

Will there be changes to my Nitelink route because of this?

If you use the 15n or 41n, these routes are being cancelled so you’ll need to switch to the new 15 and 41 routes. Some other areas previously served by the 15n and 41n will now be covered by other Nitelink service Firhouse, Old Bawn and Ellensborough in Tallaght now served by a revised 49n. Boroimhe, River Valley and Portrane will now be covered by a revised 33n.

To find out more about the changes, listen to 98FM’s On The Move, the Dublin Commuting podcast. We chat with Donal Keating from Dublin Bus about the new routes.
