Man In Critical Condition Following Assault In Temple Bar

A man in his 40s is in a critical condition in hospital following an assault in Dublin city centre in the early hours of this morning.

Gardai and emergency services were called to the scene in the Temple Bar Square area at around 12.30am.

A man in his 40s was taken to Beaumont Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

The scene was preserved and a technical exam has taken place.

Gardai in Pearse Street are asking anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them.

A garda spokesperson says: "Gardaí in Pearse Street are appealing for witnesses in relation to a serious assault that occurred in the Temple Bar Square area of Dublin 2 in the early hours of this morning, Thursday 21st August 2025.

"Gardaí and emergency services responded to the incident at approximately 12.30am.

"A man, aged in his 40s, was taken to Beaumont Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

"The scene was preserved and a technical examination has been completed.

"Gardaí are appealing to anyone with information in relation to this incident or who may have video footage to contact Pearse Street Garda Station on (01) 6669000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.

"Investigations are ongoing."
