Zayn Malik says he never wanted to be in One Direction and thought about leaving the boyband a year after they got together.
Zayn's first solo single, Pillow Talk, is out tomorrow, with an album following in March
He's told Apple's Beats 1, he gave it his best shot, but in the end it wasn't his 'cup of tea.'
"I just gave it a go because it was there at the time, but once I realised the direction (excuse the pun) we were going in with the music I instantly realised it wasn't for me".
"I couldn't give my opinion on this or that", he told Zane Lowe.
