Laya Heathcare’s City Spectacular, Merrion Square – Friday – Sunday

The 13th annual Laya Healthcare’s City Spectacular returns today to Merrion Square this weekend. The festival runs over three days in Dublin, showcasing the best in international street performance, the world’s leading living statue artists, free family activities, delicious street food from around the world as well as a pet area with charity partner the DSPCA. This year’s highlights include magician Charlie Caper, the Piano Juggler Dan Mendenez, comedian and contortion artist Sara Twister and mime artist Madame Guillotine. And best of all, Entry to the family friendly festival is entirely free of charge.

 

Meet our Spectacular Performers!! We’ve searched far and wide to bring you THIRTEEN of the most SPECTACULAR street performers and Living Statues to WOW and amaze you at this year’s festival so make sure to tune in over the next 2 weeks to get up close and personal with all 13 of them! First up is the super bendy @sara_twister who you make already recognise as she paid us a visit in Dublin for the launch of the festival a few weeks ago! Sara performs the worlds ONLY, one-woman, acrobatic-archery, interactive comedy-show. Sara is a self taught foot archer with a bow specially designed to fit her feet. By the age of 21, Sara lived in 13 different countries, 19 cities, 4 continents, and visited many more. Sara travels the globe bringing her ‘Ready.Aim.Fire’ performance to streets where she engages large crowds and this is exactly what she aims to do this July! Brewdog’s Cinematic Circus, Weston Airport, Lucan – Saturday

Brewdog are hitting the road to stage the first in a series of epic one-night wonders. Everything we love about festivals distilled into a single, unmissable party. This carnival rides into town bearing over 120 taps featuring freshly-brewed craft beer from BrewDog, YellowBelly, Kildare Brewing Company, Wicklow Wolf and Stone Barrel, not to mention spirits and cocktails from Lone Wolf. There will also be live music from Fallen Lights, incredible street food, a screening of cult movie The Shining on a colossal outdoor screen, and a performance from the outrageous Circus of Horrors. There is free parking available on-site and all drivers get a free non-alcoholic beer. Tickets priced €16 are available from brewdog.com

Guinness X Meatopia, Guinness Open Gate Brewery – Friday – Sunday

The three-day beer and food festival that’s like no other will take residency in the Open Gate Brewery on James’s Street. Unique dishes grilled or smoked over sustainable wood and charcoal, matched with Guinness Draught, Open Gate Brewery beers and experimental brews created especially for the culinary feast. Top Irish and international live-fire chefs, brewers, beer sommeliers and the wonderful mix of passionate individuals and collectives from the worlds of beer, food and fire. Beer tastings, butchery demonstrations, beer and food workshops and in true Meatopia style an eclectic line-up of entertainers, musicians and DJs. It will be the second time, Meatopia, the epic London based fired-up food carnival that originated in New York, has come to town. Beer and food lovers from far and wide, will get together again and relish this one of a kind celebration. Tickets priced €70 are available from meatopia.co.uk

Dundrum Summer Safari - Dundrum Town Centre

You could travel half way around the world to go to an African Safari Park, or you could just head down to the Dundrum Summer Safari.

It has officially opened in Pembroke Square and is running until September.

The Summer Safari features loads of wildlife-themed activities suitable for all the family!

At the centre of the Safari is a huge hot air balloon. As well as getting photos on this life size hot air balloon, young explorers can wander the trails of Dundrum’s Wildlife Reserve.

Make sure you grab a selfie with the life-size animals on show, including a Lion, Giraffe, Elephant and more, all waiting to be discovered.

The Dundrum Summer Safari is helping real animals in the process. Every picture shared using #DundrumSafari, Dundrum Town Centre will donate €1 to Save the Rhino International.

It is open weekdays 9am-9pm, Saturday 9am-7pm and Sunday 10am-7pm.
