There's been a steep drop in TV ratings for the Oscars in the US, where the number of viewers fell 16 percent from last year.
Industry magazine Variety says the average audience of 37 million is the lowest in six years. There's also been lukewarm reviews for the ceremony's first-time host Neil Patrick Harris.
