Kate Middleton and Prince William has gone against tradition again and will have six godparents at Prince George’s christening.

They’ve asked three of their old friends from childhood and college.  Fergus Boyd went to university with them at St.Andrew’s where Kate and William first met. All three of them actually shared a house in college.   Emilia d’Erlanger is an old friend of William’s but she also knows Kate through their studies  - in fact, she is said to be responsible for getting the happy couple together in the first place after introducing them to each other.  Hugh van Cutsem is an old pal from childhood.  Prince William is godfather to Hugh’s daughter and she was a flowergirl at the royal wedding.

This is the first time, non-family members have been godparents to a royal baby.

The other three godparents are likely to be Prince Harry, Pippa Middleton and Kate’s brother James Middleton.  The christening will take place next Wednesday with just close friends and family attending.
